what we do

  • Undertake direct casework with children young people & their families on issues of social care, health, education and related issues.
  • Provide information resource for disabled children, young people & their families on services relevant to them in appropriate language and format.
  • Arrange and facilitate referrals to agencies, social services, play/leisure providers, housing, employment, training, carers groups and others.
  • Provide supported & culturally appropriate play & leisure activities for disabled children and young people.
  • Provide relevant training & training resources for professionals working with this client group from Local Authority, Health, Education, and Voluntary Sector.
  • Provide consultancy & advice to mainstream organisations.
  • Represent BME disabled communities at a strategic level, locally & nationally via forums and working groups.
  • Facilitate process of consultations & involving the BME disabled community.
  • Initiate, develop, maintain & facilitate parent support groups and provide opportunities for mutual support.
  • Undertake research where appropriate.
  • Provide demographic information for policy makers on ethnicity, language & disability conditions.
  • Specialist service for BME Young People 16-25 years, assisting with access to training, employment & leisure opportunities.
